Ph.D
Dr. Aimée Bonar is a licensed Psychologist. She graduated with a Bachelor degree from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington in 1998. She earned a Masters of Education in 1999 and completed her Ph.D. from Kent State University in 2007. Prior to working in the counseling setting, she had 15 years experience as a School Psychologist working with students, teachers and parents. Her approach to therapy involves Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Person-Centered theory to help clients problem-solve issues related to life stress, depression, and anxiety.

Hello, my name is Hailie Durst, and I am excited to introduce myself as a counseling intern here at Preferred Care Counseling. As a passionate and dedicated individual, I am committed to helping others navigate through challenging times and achieve personal growth. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Youngstown State University. Throughout my training, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including individuals from various age groups, cultural backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses. I am currently accepting patients of all ages and specializations.

Kaitlyn Merwin is a Licensed Social Worker with a Bachelor and Master’s of Social Work degree from Youngstown State University where she was a collegiate Track and Field athlete. She holds experience working with adults in the Department of Corrections and youth struggling with behavior. She sees individuals of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety, confidence, sport performance issues, life adjustment concerns, marital issues and conduct disorders. Kaitlyn combines compassion, empathy, and therapeutic challenging in her approach to reach client goals. Clinical techniques used include Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution Focused Therapy.

Brittany has a wide range of education from attending college on and off since 2010. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in social work in 2021 and is currently working on her master’s degree at the University of Denver. Brittany creates a warm atmosphere with her willingness and devotion to meet her clients where they are to help develop what works specifically for them to achieve their goals. She has experience in treating depression, anxiety, grief and loss. Brittany has experience with children, adolescents, adults and families seeking a holistic approach to services. Brittany possess the ability to have an open-minded partnership with life-experience and education to focus on anger management, parenting classes, and to help motivate individuals with behavioral and emotional stability by providing a safe, non-judgmental space using CBT and client-centered therapy.
