Types of Services

Preferred Care Counseling provides a variety of counseling and support services through evidence-based treatments to help people achieve success during adversity and live their best life.  Additional resources include consultation and continuing education courses to enhance and achieve personal goals.

Individual Therapy

This is the most common form of counseling, in which an individual meets one-on-one with a counselor in a safe, caring and confidential environment to share concerns and gain insight of how to overcome obstacles. Individual therapy allows a person to explore feelings, beliefs and behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, set personal goals and work toward a desired change.

Couples and Family Therapy

Counselors provide guidance to couples and families who are experiencing issues that affect their mental health and the well-being of the whole family. Couples and family therapy brings to light the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect not only individual family members but also relationships between family members and the family unit as a whole. From there, treatment plans are developed in order to satisfy the needs of each individual and allow the family to work for the benefit and happiness of all.

Play Therapy

Psychotherapeutic approach used to help children explore their lives and freely express repressed thoughts and emotions through play. Takes place in a safe, comfortable playroom where various rules are imposed on a child, allowing to observe choices, decisions and play style.

Employee Assistance Program

This is a work-based intervention program designed to identify and assist employees in resolving personal problems that may be adversely affecting an employee’s performance in the workplace.

Initial Incident Stress Debriefing

A form of crisis intervention that provides an initial, temporary way of responding to the needs of an individual who just experienced a critical incident. Initial incident stress debriefing is simple and brief in which a counselor works through concerns with an individual.

Special Services

Psychoeducational groups or individual sessions tailored to the specific needs of a patient. These types of services are structured, set within a timeframe of sessions and curriculum based.
